Another rant

Again on an early radio show I heard that some Republicans and our "leader" are threatening to investigate mail in ballots for fraud.  This is scaring a lot of people, particularly people of color.  I mean, who wants to be investigated by the Federal Government or anyone for that matter...you never know whether they are gathering truth or something they can use against you by slightly twisting things.  This has happened in the past.  I'm not sure about other states but in Colorado you have to have a driver's license or an ID card, I don't see anything wrong with that especially since you need either of them to get a check cashed.  There have been proposals of a Poll Tax, yuck!  Texas had that for the longest in hopes of keeping "Coloreds" from voting.  I believe the first year I voted I had to pay the Poll Tax ($1) but I wanted to vote so I paid it.  Our "leader" claims that mail voting will be full of  "fake" votes and false signatures so he wants it investigated.  Yeah, he's afraid that if people vote by mail he will loose by a landslide.

People, this is the United States of America, NOT America!  In order to be AMERICA we would have to have ALL of North and South America!  Again, this is the United States, sadly something we have never been but I have high hopes that we will eventually get there.  We used to be known as the "melting pot", I loved that idea growing up and I still love it.  However, as I grew up and began to see a different world than I thought existed.  I took a lot for granted as to what I was told and what I followed.  If you wonder why I'm always up in the air about something, well it's because I came to see the reality of my world and it isn't the beautiful thing I thought it was.  There is more hate than I realized before, most of it is in small doses but eventually it leads to something horrific.  I have said before that if you want to know what the current "leader" is up to read "Mien Kamp" (not sure about the spelling as the flood took the book) or "Der Fuehrer" (again not sure of the spelling, lost to the flood) and you will see what I mean.  I AM NOT an conspiracy type of person but sometimes something happens that is a fact and not a conspiracy.  Do not take my word for anything, do not take anyone's word on anything...do research, take the time to find out the truth!

My Mother's Mom wanted to be kin to a vice-president who was in office for two weeks, fortunately, we aren't kin to him.  Why only in office for two weeks?  In that period of time he completely bankrupted the United States!  I believe he was vice-president, then president in the early 1800's, not sure about the dates.  Oh well, life goes on.

Riding a bucking horse

Although it has been a while since I have had to ride a bucking horse, I still remember so much about it, true it only lasted a few minutes but the thrill and terror is long lasting.

The first thing I noticed was the twitching of the ears, leaning over the neck I could see the nostrils showing anger, then, even though there was plenty of leather and a saddle blanket between me and it's back, I could feel the back bone coming up and the tightening of the muscles.  All I could do was do my best to hang on. Only one started off with crow hops, the others went straight from a walk to a full blown buck.  Most of them were straight up bucks, back bowed, head down, legs stiff.  One, however, should have been a rodeo horse.  He was angry as hell and he wanted to be sure I knew it.  All I wanted was to get him used to weight on his back.  What I wanted was to lunge him first with the saddle on, but my husband at the time thought that was a waste, but he wasn't riding the horse, in fact he never rode any of the horses (in his defense, he hated horses as this was the only way he could be with his Dad was to ride horses).  So, I got on the horse and immediately felt all the signs that I was going to be in for some sort of ride.  The back yard had a 10 ft cyclone fence around it, you know the kind with the little prongs at the top...well we went around the back yard and he bucked higher and higher all the while getting closer and closer to the fence.  If he had thought about it, he could have simply jumped the fence since his bucks were a good foot above the top of the fence.  He decided he wasn't doing enough to he did a Sun Fish.  Know what that is?  It's when the front end of the horse is facing one way and the rear end is facing another with the middle twisted, like I said, he would have been a wonderful rodeo horse.  He went back to regular bucks and then threw in another Sun Fish.  All I could think of was that I had three little kids in the house and couldn't afford to get hurt, AND, I hadn't to fixed Sunday Dinner yet.  As he got closer to the fence I decided to bail off.  I hit the ground and looked up to see all four hooves headed right for my belly, so I got into a ball and  hoped for the best.  It was the right thing to do, the hooves grazed my top leg just above the knee.  My husband caught the horse and I got up, with a little difficulty.  I looked at my jeans and they were soaked in blood.  My husband insisted that I get back on, I sure hated admitting he was right, so I got back on and he led the horse around the yard until the hump finally left.  At that point I was ready to try again...that is until I looked at my leg.  My husband was nice enough to let me go in and take a bath while he unsaddled the horse and put him in the pasture.  It took two seconds for the water to turn a light red.  After I got out I checked it out, there wasn't a cut, it looked like all the small blood vessels had been ruptured.  Anyway I put something on it, got dressed and went to take care of the kids and fix dinner.  Monday I went to the doctor to be sure everything was okay, it was but he told me to watch out for a blood clot.  Well that was when I was 24 and I never got the blood clot.

Now, how did I feel during all of this?  Fascinated by all the strength and muscles I felt in this horse, scared that I might not survive and maybe even be crippled, and loads of adrenaline.  I never expected my horses to buck but I'm glad I went through it.  Why?  I learned to respect how powerful they are, how they still have a mind of their own and when they did as I trained them to do they were being nice to me instead of trying to kill me like they could have.  All in all, this actually made me love and admire them more.  Yeah, I know, I'm crazy.

Cabin Fever

I've had cabin fever before but the only restrictions were the ones put on me by myself and usually the weather.  Having someone else seems to make the cabin fever much worse.  Everything is closed due to the virus so I can't even go window shopping.  It's a cloudy day, 41 degrees, 66% humidity and raining off and on.

I thought maybe if I put classical music on it would help but ended up listening to 60's, 70's and 80's music.  Right not Otis Redding is doing a horrible job of "You Send Me" done originally by Sam Cook, whose version was so much better.  Oh well.

I have to keep in mind that my electric coffee peculator needs to be thoroughly cleaned once a month.

Economy vs Lives

So, our "leader" is closing down the Coronavirus Task Force, the group that is supposed to be there in this pandemic...he is shutting it down so he can get the economy going. Guess what? The leader of a South American country, I think it is Brazil, is also up for election and he is pushing economy over lives! Don't get me wrong, I fully understand that we all need work and money...my question is how is the economy going to grow when people are dying? Just a question.

Our "leader"

Yesterday or today, I'm not sure which now, World Leaders gathered to raise money for finding a vaccine for COVID 19.  The leader of China was there but he didn't want to be involved.  Our "leader"...nowhere to be seen.  It appears he wants the U.S. to be isolated and be the only one to find the cure so we can sell it at an exorbitant amount of money.  Yep, that's our "leader" money is all important.  I am totally disgusted with  his ideas and his attitude!  I'm hoping many of the people who bought into his ideas at the beginning are now realizing what sort of "leader" we actually have.

There is a thing on Facebook being sent around that mail in voting is somehow wrong and that it is far more important to expose yourself to danger in order to vote.  NOT!   Mail in voting is important for many reasons.  There are people who want to vote but cannot make it to the voting places for one reason or another.  There are people who cannot be late for work and by the time work is done for the day just want to get home to a hot meal and their family instead of standing in line and hoping they get to vote in time.  Voting by mail makes sense in too many ways to so many people.  You get your ballot early so you can vote early.  You don't have to expose yourself and others to the possibility of COVID 19.  In my opinion it is the safest and most efficient way of voting, especially during a pandemic.

A new day

Jake is fine and moving out as of Thursday.  Robert has Stage 2 Colon Cancer which is far better than Stage 3 or 4 and shouldn't have to have chemo, which in my opinion is wonderful.  Amy is settling down with the new routine.  Stacey is working with the new kittens, getting them new homes and getting a job.  Caitlin and her S.O. are doing fine for now as they still have an income.  Mason is way to full of energy for any of them.  Me?  Well, I'm doing okay, kind of depressed but not enough to do any harm; too many things to do and no energy to do any of them; and contemplating what the rest of 2020 will be like.  As far as I can find out from the past records, most pandemics last about two years, now how well it was financially during those two years records don't show anything.  They called AIDS an epidemic and it was but not the same as this pandemic.  They are still, as far as I can find out, working on the "cocktail" so it seems to be only one pill compared to the thirty-eight pills my sister Pat had to take.  Everyone believes it is gone but it isn't, it's hanging in there; because people think it is gone people, being humans, aren't taking the precautions they once were.  Oh well, human beings are especially weird creatures.

So, as of yesterday, I am now 77 years of age.  Funny, it doesn't feel any different than when I turned 60.  Oh, I know I'm older, believe me, I'm slower than what I want to be; people remind me all the time that I am older and need to be more careful.  If I listened to everyone, I'd get a wheel chair and just wait to die...not going to happen.  I wish I had had this attitude when I was younger It would have done me and my kids a world of good, but I didn't.  I learned a thing or two about myself as well as others though which is ending up to being a very good thing.  Don't every let anyone tell you that you are too old to change, you are never too old for anything...well maybe a few things that I can't think of at the moment.

Navajo Reservation

We all know about New York and New Jersey being the hot spots in the U.S. for the Coronavirus...however, how many of you know that the third hot spot is the Navajo Nation? They have the largest reservation and the third largest number of people with COVID 19! Why don't you know about it? Because they are Native Americans and very little is reported about them on national news. Why? Do any of you remember the painting and sculpture of the Native astride his pony with hunched shoulders, his head down, his pony's tail tucked, head lowered as a wind buffets them strongly from behind? It's called the Last Trail and was meant to represent the last Native, meaning they were supposed to be "eliminated for good". They aren't and they won't be!
Did you know that there isn't a Reservation with adequate medical resources? That in the 60's and 70's and probably beyond, when a woman or a man went to the hospital for something they were likely to have come back with a vasectomy or hysterectomy without their consent? I believe, mainly because I want to, that this no longer exist. However, they do not have the medical facilities to take care of Natives with COVID 19!
This nation of ours lacks humanity! We are racist even when we don't intend to be! We treat people of Color with disdain, even if it is very slight, it is still there. Many of the smartest people are of Color! There may not be as many as there could be because of the educational system they are exposed to. The Asians have it a little better but not a lot.
IF you truly believe in your God, how can you look down on people of Color or people who do believe in Him but use another name for him and another type of bible, or, who simply do not believe in Him? According to your Bible, He made everyone and we are all equal no matter our race or sexual orientation! So what's the problem?
Yes, I am very upset...what else is new

Racism and death in the South

Rant on the way! When there is a house under construction, how many of you have gone in to see what is going on after the construction was gone? I have, just out of curiosity. Now, the rant. In the South, I believe Georgia, a black man was shot because two husky white men decided he had gone in to the house to steal something. He was out for a run and stopped to see what the house looked like on the inside (my theory, okay?). These two men decided he was guilty because he was running. One used to work for the Police department, just a little information as to why they haven't been arrested. Now, this black man didn't have anything in his hands but these two men (I won't think of them that way, my right) grabbed a shotgun and a handgun, ran after him and yelled at him to stop. Now, if you were a black man (or woman for that matter) and two white men with guns were yelling for you to stop, honestly, would you? I sure as hell wouldn't. They say he got aggressive, who wouldn't? He was shot twice at close range with the shot gun. There is a law that citizens can act as Police if a crime has been committed. Okay, but does that give the citizen the right to kill? Furthermore, nothing was taken from the construction site. These men are running around like nothing happened. BTW, this man usually went for a run every day. These white men will probably get away with it and I am angry. We have a "leader" who has let it be know how much he dislikes people of color, he has taken the side of Neo Nazi and the KKK...still I am surprised that this is still happening in a "CHRISTIAN" country. Christian? Really? Have any of you read the Bible? Do any of you realize that you are supposed to be "Christ like"? Enough said, my neck is killing me. The United States and it's citizens need to grow up!
